Soprano Martha Cares and tenor Matthew Daniel join voices for an evening of musical vignettes from American musicals and classics including South Pacific and Les Miserables.
Enjoy this last event of the summer with your friends and family. Bring your lawn chairs, food, beverages and picnic blankets and enjoy this sensational musical event under the stars.

About our Artists
Martha Cares, soprano
Martha Cares is perhaps best known for singing over one thousand performances in the national NYC based Broadway production of Phantom of the Opera, directed by the legendary Harold Prince. She is Grand Prize winner of the International Bel Canto Opera Competition (Siena, Italy) and the International Friedrich Schorr Opera Competition. Martha Cares has graced the stages of the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Grant Park Music Festival, Florida Grand Opera, Chicago Opera Theatre, Miami Chamber Opera, Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra, Tulsa Philharmonic and Milwaukee Opera Company, to name just a few.
Ms. Cares is an alumna of the prestigious Lyric Opera Center for American Artists, Ryan Opera Center. Martha’s voice is heard in countless nationally televised commercials highlighted by McDonald’s “I’m Lovin’ It!” and Clio Award winning Cheer and United Airlines campaigns. Martha is well known to regional audiences for her acclaimed appearances in Jacques Brel and Kurt Weil with Harbor Country Opera and as Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose.
Ms. Cares continues to expand her expressive vocal boundaries in her recent exploration of rare acoustic folk music.
Ms. Cares attended Interlochen, University Division of the International Music program, and earned her Master of Music degree with highest distinction from the University of Michigan School of Music.
Ms Cares is the creator of My Rescue a movement devoted to helping animal rescue nationwide through her work as a visual artist and inspired by her Rescue Dog Poppy! Her studio, ART DOG is located in Sawyer Michigan.
Matthew Daniel, tenor
Matthew Daniel, tenor, has been described as “a tenor of steely power and robust tone” — The Denver Post. Over his twenty-five plus years of singing, he has had the privilege to perform Opera, Oratorio, Concerts, and in Recital. He has been a member of the Lyric Opera Chicago chorus since 2004.
His opera roles performed include Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore, Pedrillo in Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail, Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, King Kaspar in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Hoffmann in Tales of Hoffmann, The Duke in Rigoletto, Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus, Rodolfo in La Boheme, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana, and Canio in I Pagliacci. Opera companies Matthew has sung with include Indiana Opera North, Opera!Lenawee, Light Opera Works, Sarasota Opera, Aspen Opera Theater, Tulsa Opera, Harrisburg Opera, Opera Grand Rapids, and Lyric Opera Chicago.
Oratorios performed include Magnificat by J.S. Bach, Laud to the Nativity by Respighi, Messiah by Handel, Stabat Mater by Rossini, Ninth Symphony by Beethoven, Choral Fantasy by Beethoven, Coronation Mass by Mozart, and Requiem by Mozart. Matthew has also had the opportunity to perform two World Premieres. The song-cycle Moon River Anthology by Mason and the opera The Hard Years by Schwabe.
Along with his singing, Matthew teaches voice in his home studio in South Bend, Indiana and at Culver Academies in Culver, Indiana. Most recently he has added stage director to his resume, when he directed Die Fledermaus and L’elisir d’amore with South Bend Lyric Opera.
