Aglaja Petrova, a piano instructor at the School of American Music, will present a solo concert at the Acorn Theater in Three Oaks, Mich. on Monday, October 22. The concert, produced by SAM, begins at 7pm; doors open at 6pm. Admission is free, but those who plan to attend should sign up at the Acorn’s website, acorntheater.org.
The evening’s performance will include works by Chopin, Beethoven and Rachmaninoff. An album of Petrova’s work, recorded by SAM sound experts, will be on sale at the concert.
The 17-year-old Petrova has been studying piano since she was six, and has taught at SAM since she was 15. She has played for masses at area churches and has also performed for school plays, piano recitals, the Indiana State Music Association’s Solo and Ensemble Contest, and other piano competitions. Recently, she performed at a recital at Converge Community Church in New Buffalo, Mich.
Petrova currently studies under Lydie Regazi of Berrien Springs, Mich. and is an honor student at Michigan City (Ind.) High School. Her goal is pursue a career in general music education and piano performance.
